Josef Oriental Rugs, Inc. was founded by rug expert Naiem Khoshdel in 1994.  Naiem was born in Herat, Afghanistan and attended medical school at Kabul University.  His introduction to the world of Oriental rugs began with his move to Europe in the late 1980’s, when he entered the handknotted rug business in Hamburg, Germany. Naiem continued building his expert knowledge of the Oriental rug business and founded Josef Oriental Rugs after settling permanently in the United States in the early 1990s.

Josef Oriental Rugs is one of the major rug importers in the East Coast of the United States and Naiem personally selects his inventory on frequent overseas trips.  In addition to buying, selling, and trading rugs, Josef Oriental Rugs offers comprehensive rug care services including hand-cleaning, restoration, and appraisal.
